The babyeater system would have spead up evolution and therefore evolved. But the organisms couldn't have chosen this path. And even now, if they didn't eat their babies, they would strip their planet of resources in a few years. While the trait could be cured by means of genetic engineering, so could sickle-cell animia, and we didn't bother with that. If we could ally with the "babyeaters", we could probably defeat the "superhappies" much the same way we allied with the USSR to defeat Hitler instead of nuking the world and destroy all three of us. Yeah, I know. I'm a sick bastard. Oh well, what can ya do? In truth, if I was the captain of the Human starship, I would be greatly tempted blow the Babyeaters to bits, provided I had superior weapons and technology. Either that, or go into warp drive and escape both races. For me, the Babyeaters represent evil, no matter how right they believe they are. The Superhappies may be pain free and happy but they are way too delusional for my taste. Any race that out-of-touch will be taken advantage of by a future enemy, more than likely.
