		<description>I think that it is a valid point to make that organisms have no say in how they evolve.  The babyeater system would have spead up evolution and therefore evolved.  But the organisms couldn&#039;t have chosen this path.  And even now, if they didn&#039;t eat their babies, they would strip their planet of resources in a few years.  While the trait could be cured by means of genetic engineering, so could sickle-cell animia, and we didn&#039;t bother with that.

If we could ally with the &quot;babyeaters&quot;, we could probably defeat the &quot;superhappies&quot; much the same way we allied with the USSR to defeat Hitler instead of nuking the world and destroy all three of us.  Conflict is at times unavoidable, but neccesary to keep society moving.</description>
